WATCH: Mattresses, bottles and more left at Electric Picnic camp
A major cleanup is underway after hundreds of tents and leftovers have been left dumped at the Electric Picnic campsite
Blow-up mattresses, bottles, and many more items have been left at the Electric Picnic campsite this Monday afternoon.
A major cleanup operation is now underway at the site in Stradbally, Co. Laois.
Electric Picnic took place over three days, with rain and wind hammering those attending.
Sombr, Zara Larsson, and Fontaines D.C. were three of the main headliners performing over the weekend.
The rain caused some artists to be delayed in getting on stage, as well as some campers to be delayed leaving the festival.
The heavy downpours meant cars got stuck in the mud, with farmers and tractors on site to assist in removing them, according to Festival Director Melvin Benn.
There is no shortage of farmers and tractors willing to help and we have additional farmers and tractors coming in to pull people out,” he said.
He hopes to have the campsite cleared by 3pm today, but is urging people to be patient.
“We will get you out, if it is a bit wet we will get you out. We have put additional trackways in different places. We have to be patient and people are. You don’t come to a festival in Ireland and not expect a little bit of rain,” Melvin said.
He is already preparing for next year’s festival, with partner pre-sale beginning tomorrow and loyalty and general sale on Friday, September 4.
Melvin confirmed there will be no change to pricing or capacity for next year’s festival.
