Man before Laois court accused of possessing child pornography

A man appeared before Portlaoise District Court accused of possession of child pornography. 

The man (51), who has a Kildare address and cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of possessing child pornography in Kildare on a date between January 14 and February 11, 2019. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the case proceed on indictment and a book of evidence would be needed. 

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick requested reporting restrictions which were then imposed by Judge Susan Fay. She adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on March 19 for service of a book of evidence.
