Mary Claffey - Portlaoise

The death took place on December 16 of Mary Claffey, Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Laois and formerly Fardrum, Athlone.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her brother Paddy. Deeply regretted by her loving brother Tony and sister Anna. Loving aunt to Ethel, Damien, Justin and Miriam. Sadly missed by her cousins, relatives, extended family and neighbours, also her former colleagues and students in Portlaoise CBS.

Reposing at Keegan's funeral home, Portlaoise, on Monday from 6.30pm until 8pm with rosary at 7.30pm. Removal on Tuesday to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church, Portlaoise, for 12 noon requiem Mass. Interment will follow in Cornamagh Cemetery, Athlone at 2.30 on approx.

Jack Kenna - Portarlington

The death took place on December 16 of Jack Kenna, St Mary's Road, Daingean, Offaly / Portarlington, Laois

Formerly of Killmullen, Portarlington, County Laois. Suddenly at his residence. Predeceased by his sisters Mary (Sr. Fergal MMM) and Annie Flanagan. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, son Tomas, daughters Catherine and Ann-Marie, sons-in-law Derek and David, daughter-in-law Stella, grandchildren Tadhg, Eoin, Clodagh Conor, Caoimhe and Ronan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and neighbours . Sadly missed by his friends and fellow Gaels in the G.A.A. community.

Reposing at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington (eircode R32 X5XV) on Monday evening from 4pm with Removal at 6pm arriving St Mary Mother Of God Church, Daingean (eircode R35 E862) at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Coleman's Cemetery, Kilclonfert, Daingean (eircode R35 H280).

Bernadette Grady - Borris-in-Ossory

The death took place on December 17 of Bernadette (Bernie) Grady (née Kennedy), Ballaghmore, Borris-in-Ossory, Laois

Peacefully in the care of the Matron and staff of Villa Marie Nursing Home, Roscrea and in the company of her loving son.

Pre-deceased by her husband Billy and son Joseph and extended family members.

Deeply regretted by her loving son Michael, nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and many friends.

Reposed in Tierney's Funeral Home, Roscrea on Monday evening from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Removal on Tuesday morning at 10.30am arriving in St. Moula's Church, Ballaghmore for Funeral Mass at 11.00am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only donations if desired to Alzheimer's Ireland.

Marie E Fennelly - Mountmellick

The death took place on December 16 of Marie E. Fennelly (née Feehan) Mountmellick, Co. Laois, formerly of Killeigh, Co. Offaly, and New York, USA

In her 94th year, peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family and carers.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Mick and cherished daughter Mary. Deeply regretted by her heartbroken children Fran, Paul, Will, Mark (Quincey), Joan, Alice, and Tom; her daughters-in-law Cathy, Karen, Vanessa, Fiona, and Linda; her sons-in-law Brendan, Paul, and Martin.Marie adored her 16 grandchildren who adored her in return: Evelyn, Olivia, Ciarán, Alice, Erika, Wason, Kon, Lucy, Monica, David, Matt, Sam, Ellen, Sarah, Tom, and Mikey.Marie will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Emer, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, carers, neighbours, and her wide circle of friends.

Reposed at Moloney’s Funeral Home, Mountmellick, Co. Laois R32 PC95 on 17th day of December, from 3pm to 6pm with rosary at 6pm. House private please. Removal from Moloney’s Funeral Home to St. Joseph's Church, Mountmellick, Co. Laois R32 RK58 on 18th December, arriving for 11am Mass followed by burial in St.Joseph’s Cemetery, Mountmellick.

Catherine Campion - Rathdowney

The death took place on December 15 of Catherine ( Kitty) Campion (née Horgan) Conoboro Rd., Rathdowney, Co. Laois and formerly Knockavilla, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in her 82nd year, at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget Co. Kilkenny. Predeceased by her husband Sylvie and brothers Willie and Ritchie. Sadly missed by her adoring family, Ves, John, Helen, Sue and Rick, son-in-law Ray, daughters-in-law Abi and Aishling, grandchildren, Lilli, Jessica, Nathan, Jade, Kirk, Danny, Shauna and Ryan, twin brother David, sisters Ita and Maureen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law,especially Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposed at her daughter Sue's residence, Eirrill, Rd. Rathdowney (Eircode R32 X9P4), on Saturday and Sunday, from 5 o'clock, pausing for prayers at 8 o'clock both evenings. Removal on Monday morning to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Rathdowney, arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in the local cemetery. 

Mary Duffy - Raheen

The death took place on December 15 of Mary Duffy, (née Parkinson), Endrim, Ferbane, Offaly, late of Raheen, Co. Laois.

Mary died on December 15th 2023, peacefully at home with her family. She was a native of Raheen, Co. Laois and was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward, parents James and Katherine, brothers Seamus and Sean, sisters Kathleen and Bridie and brother-in-law Peter.

Mary will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family, sons Saran and David, daughters Mai, Catherine, Dolores and Emer, grandchildren, Sean, Louise, Keith, Niamh, Kenneth, James, Alisha, Mark, Emily, Orla, Ciara, Darragh, Ailbhe and Cian, sisters, Theresa and Ann, brother Joe, daughter-in-law Maura, sons-in-law Kees, Paddy and Brendan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Mary reposed at her home on Sunday Dec. 17th from 3pm to 7pm.

Removal on Monday morning Dec. 18th to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ferbane, where her Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11am, and may be viewed on http://www.ferbaneparish.ie .

Ann Cass - Ballyroan

The death took place on December 14 of Ann Cass (née Byrne), Tullore, Ballyroan, Laois and Chatsworth, Clogh, Co Kilkenny.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her daughter Sharon. She will be forever missed by her husband Michael, daughters Mary and Elizabeth and son Joe, grandchildren Evan, Aine, Amy, Lachlan, Roisin, and Conor, extended family and friends.

Reposed in the Chapel Of Rest adjoining The Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, from 5pm with prayers at 7pm on Friday, the 15th of December. Funeral arrived at The Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, for 11am Requiem Mass on Saturday. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Donal Bolton - Killeshin

The death has occurred of Donal Bolton of Springhill, Killeshin who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 13th, 2023, in the gentle care of the nurses and staff of Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally, Co. Laois.

Beloved husband of Anna, much loved father of Julie, Donie, Karen, Eddie, Sean, Michelle, Margaret and Declan, adored grandfather of Lisa, Emma, Jake, Abbie, Lily, Ellie, Cian, Finn and Hazel and cherished brother of Liam, Mairead, Patrick, Mary and the late Henry and Michael.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Carpenters Funeral Home, Shamrock Square, Carlow (Eircode R93 C863) on Sunday, December 17th, from 3pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm that evening. Removal from there on Monday at 10.30am to The Holy Cross Church, Killeshin, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
