Deaths in Laois - May 1, 2018

James Gannon - Dublin and Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, April 30 of James Gannon of Mount Merrion and Portlaoise. 

Peacefully in the devoted care of Dr Eoin Tiernan, the nurses and the Staff of St. Vincent’s Private Hospital. Beloved and dearly loved husband of Maeve and the late Anne. He will be deeply missed by his sons Paul, Jimmy, and Bill, daughters Mary, Sarah and Carina, sons and daughters-in-law, brothers, Anthony and Ignatius, sisters Gabe and Gertie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, his cherished grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

Jim will repose in Fanagans Funeral Home, Dundrum, Dublin 14 on Wednesday evening, from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Thérèse, Mount Merrion on Thursday morning at 10am followed by burial at Deans Grange Cemetery. 

Michael Aylward - Durrow

The death took place on Monday, April 30 of Michael (Mick) Aylward of Patrick St, Durrow and Ballingarry, Tipperary

Peacefully at Abbeyleix Community Hospital, husband of the late Nancy. Deeply regretted by his loving children Michael, Bridget, P.J., Helen, Anne and Sean, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his son P.J.’s residence (Rath, Durrow) from 2pm on Tuesday with Rosary at 8pm. Removal to Holy Trinity Church, Durrow, on Wednesday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Br. Thomas Sheehy - Castletown

The death took place on Sunday, April 22 of Br. Thomas Sheehy of Victory Park, Johannesburg, South Africa and late of P.O. Ballingarry, Limerick and Castletown. 

Deeply regretted by his sisters Bridie and Miriam, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, friends and confreres.

Funeral Mass in St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church, in Victory Park on Friday 4th May at 10.30am. Mass in Miguel House, De La Salle Monastery, Castletown, Portlaoise, on Friday 4th May at 11am for Br. Thomas.

 Mary Delaney - Emo

The death took place on Sunday, April 29 of Mary Delaney (née Daly) of New Inn House, Emo. 

Peacefully, at her residence, in her 93rd year. Wife of the Late Thomas. Deeply regretted by her loving son Gerard, daughters Brid (McDermott), Poilin (Hooban), Claire (O’Connor), Angela (Chuk), Olive (McNeill), brothers, Andrew (Timahoe) and Sean (New Zealand), grandchildren, great-grandchild, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her son’s residence, New Inn House, Emo from 6pm today, Monday, with Rosary at 9pm. Reposing tomorrow, Tuesday, from 3pm with removal at 6.50pm arriving at St. Paul’s Church, Emo for 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 2pm and burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Emo.
Margaret Nash - Ballinakill

The death took place on Sunday, April 29 of Margaret Nash (née O'Sullivan) of Artane, Dublin and formerly of Ballinakill. Peacefully, in the care of St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown. Rita, dearly loved wife of the late James and loving mother to Shay and Martine. Sadly missed by her loving son, daughter, daughter-in-law Carol, son-in-law Peter, grandchildren Róisín, Gearóid, Eve, Conor and his wife Julie, great-grandsons Asa and Seán, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at the Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview on Tuesday with family in attendance from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of St. John Vianney, Ardlea Road, arriving at 9.50am for 10am Requiem Mass. Funeral thereafter to Dardistown Crematorium.

Margaret Scully - Portlaoise

The death took place on Sunday, April 29 of Margaret (Rita) Scully of St Brigid's Place, Portlaoise.

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Margaret (Rita), beloved wife of the late Roch. Dearly loved mother to John, Patrick, Teresa, Peter, Jacinta, Roch, Margaret, and Kathleen.

Deeply regretted by her loving family, brothers Billy, Mick and Tony, sisters, Sarah, Mary, and Kathleen, brothers in law, sisters in law, sons in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence from 3pm on Monday with rosary at 8pm. Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Tuesday followed by interment in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.
