Laois parents and others caring for or working with children can get help with a range of problems at a series of talks in Portlaoise Library in September and November.

Laois Libraries have partnered with Offaly Libraries to present the Laois and Offaly Libraries Parenting Support Programme 2026, described as a series of free talks and workshops for parents. Supported by Children and Young People's Services Committees (CYPSC), the organisers say the programme offers practical advice and support for parents of children of all ages.

The programme begins in September and includes a variety of free events for parents, caregivers, healthcare professionals, teachers, special needs assistants, and anyone working with children and young people.

“Its aim is to provide simple, practical strategies to help parents build positive relationships with their children and confidently manage challenges as they arise,” say the organisers.
