Celebrate the Spring Equinox at the dazzling family "Walk Away from the Darkness" later this month.
Laois residents are being invited to embrace the arrival of spring and the power of light at the Spring Equinox Family Event on Saturday, March 29, at Vicarstown Bridge.
This free, family-friendly celebration organised by SVT Activity and Wellness Hub invites all to walk along the canal and experience the season of renewal.
According to organisers, “the theme of this year’s event, "Walk Away from the Darkness," draws on ancient symbolism as we bid farewell to winter and welcome the energy of spring through the powerful symbolic trees the holly and the oak rooted in Pagan traditions:
The Holly is traditionally associated with winter, representing protection and resilience during the cold months. The Oak, on the other hand, is a symbol of strength and vitality, welcoming the rebirth of life and energy as we move into the lighter, brighter days of spring."

"As you walk these paths, you'll be surrounded by stunning light creations by renowned artist Evgeny Chubatyy, whose mesmerizing installations will dazzle and inspire. Music and refreshments to follow,” organisers said.
People are invited to come along and reconnect with nature, and celebrate the beauty and light of the season. The event is supported by Healthy Laois and Water Safety Ireland and Laois County Council.
The event takes place at on Saturday, March 29 7pm and is free. People are asked to bring along a lantern, candle or light. Further information contact SVT Activity and Wellness Hub 085 1742251
