Rathdowney Fire Brigade are working with Laois County Council to clear the oil spill

The R435 from Rathdowney towards Donaghmore has been closed due to an oil spill.

Rathdowney fire brigade are working in conjunction with Laois County Council to clear the road.

The road is currently closed from Doherty's Cross in Rathdowney, through to Donaghmore.

The incident was reported by a passerby to emergency services and will reopen once clear.

Commuters availing of Ballybrophy train station are advised to travel via the L1596 from Rathdowney towards Coolfin.
