A school warning sign is due to be repaired in Timahoe.

Fianna Fail Cllr Paschal McEvoy requested the work in a recent motion.

He asked “that Laois County Council fix the School Warning Sign on Stradbally Road, Timahoe”.

In a written reply, a Road Design Engineer, stated that:  “Road Design have notified the Contractor about the issue. The two school warning signs located at either side of Timahoe NS will be fixed in the coming days.”

Cllr McEvoy said he was delighted to hear that the work would be carried out quickly. He described the warning sign as a “very important piece or infrastructure” in the town.

The motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Vivienne Phelan. She expressed frustration over the issue. “The last time it was fixed it started coming on in the evening and not on when it was really needed”, said Cllr Phelan.

The issue was discussed at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
