Laois Gardaí busy on the roads over St Patrick's Day weeke

It may have been a holiday weekend but Laois Gardaí were as busy on the roads around the county.

On Sunday, March 20 the Gardaí say the Laois Roads Policing Unit stopped this vehicle in Portlaoise after number plate recognition alerted that it was out of tax.

"The driver gave false details to Gardaí when stopped and was subsequently discovered to be disqualified from driving." said Gardaí.

The vehicle seized on Grattan Stret and the driver was arrested and charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

Meanwhile, Gardaí say they stopped a vehicle on March 18 and found that the driver disqualified from driving. Mountrath Gardaí also discovered that a bench warrant also in existence. The individual was arrested and charged to appear before the courts. The vehicle was also seized.

Separately, Gardaí say a number of other drivers were also stopped for being "under with various intoxicants and disqualified".
