The newly launched "LOETB All Stars” initiative is set to begin this year, bringing together special classes from nine LOETB(Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board) schools in an exciting multi-sport league tailored specifically for teenagers with ASD.
Organised by "The Homeroom" at Portlaoise College, this innovative tournament will run throughout the academic year, providing students a unique opportunity to showcase their sporting talents and work collaboratively as a team.
Each school will focus on a different sport each term, practising and refining their skills before coming together for a term-end competition. The final event in May promises to be a grand celebration hosted at Portlaoise College, marking the culmination of a year of effort, teamwork, and personal growth.
What makes the "LOETB All Stars" initiative particularly special is its commitment to inclusivity. Every student will take part, with game rules adapted to accommodate the diverse needs of all players, ensuring each child enjoys the experience and contributes meaningfully.
Teacher at The Homeroom, James Moloughney, is the driving force behind this initiative and he shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming events.
“I’m looking forward to seeing students come together and challenge themselves, all while having their needs met. It’s an incredible opportunity for them to grow, both physically and socially,” said Mr Moloughney.
Portlaoise College Principal, Noel Daly said: "The LOETB All Stars initiative is a fantastic opportunity for our students to come together, be active, and support each other. It’s about building skills, confidence, and friendships in a positive, inclusive environment."

The "LOETB All Stars” is more than just a sports league—it’s a celebration of inclusion, determination, and the joy of sportsmanship. The school community eagerly anticipates this year-long journey, which promises to uplift every student involved.
