Learner driver caught with €40k of drugs in Laois

A learner driver travelling along a Laois road has been allegedly caught in possession of over €40,000 worth of cocaine.

Gardaí have confirmed that the Laois Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle for an alleged speeding offence on the M7 on Wednesday evening, June 11.

Gardaí say the driver, a Learner Permit holder who was unaccompanied, was arrested after €40000 worth of Cocaine and Cannabis was discovered in the vehicle following a search.

The vehicle was then seized. The driver was arrested, charged and brought before Portlaoise District Court on Thursday morning.
