A pub which closed and never reopened in Rosenallis during Covid looks set to trade again.

Nominee of Waldrun Homes Limited, Wayne Walsh, was granted an Ad Interim Transfer for the pub in Rosenallis at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court

Solicitor Michelle Morris said the pub had been closed since Covid. She said the property was purchased on June 19.

Mr Walsh said it was his intention to renovate and reopen the bar for local customers.

“This will become the social hub of the village,” he said.

Mr Walsh told Judge Susan Fay that staff would be trained and alcohol would not be sold to underage customers. He said it would be a “well run shop”.  He said there is no pub in Rosenallis since Covid.

Judge Fay said the onus was on the owners to ensure the staff are well trained to work in the pub.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardai had no objection to the transfer. “I wish you well. They are a good community out there,” said Sgt Kirby.

Judge Fay granted the transfer and wished Mr Walsh good luck in his new endeavour.
