Patrick Earley - Portarlington

The death took place on January 1 of Patrick (Paddy) Earley, Bracklone Street, Portarlington, Laois

Suddenly at his residence. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Carina, sons Stephen and Noah, father P.J., mother Ann, sister Karen, brother-in-law Paul, sister-in-law Nicola, nephews Tadhg, Oisín and Fionnán, parents-in-law P.J. and Jean, uncles, aunts, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Kathleen Hassett - Errill

The death took place on January 1 of Kathleen Hassett (nee Meehan), Lisduff, Errill, Co. Laois.

Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family in her 100th year.

Predeceased by her husband Paddy, her parents Michael and Mary and brother Denis.

Sadly missed by her adoring family, Michael, Tom, Marian (Shanahan), Denis, Breeda (Harty), Pat-Joe and Seamus, sons-in-law Liam and Pat, daughters-in-law Mary-Ann, Ann, Julie, Linda and Jacqui, her 17 grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, her dear neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at her residence (Eircode R32 DDP8) on Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening from 4 o'clock pausing for prayers at 8 o'clock both evenings. Removal on Thursday morning to Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church Errill, arriving for Requiem mass at 11 o'clock followed by interment in St. Mary's Cemetery Templetouhy.

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Laois Hospice.  House private on Thursday morning please.

David Parkinson - Mountmellick

The death took place on January 1 of David (Dave) Parkinson, Connolly Street, Mountmellick, Co. Laois.

Died unexpectedly January 1st at home.

Beloved son of the late Christy and Brigid Parkinson and dear brother of the late Robert.

Former Employee of Central Garage, Mountmellick. Deeply regretted by his loving daughter Grace, her partner Matt, his siblings Val (UK), Claire Morrisey (Galway), Ann Connelly (Spiddal), Eddie (Pollagh), Margaret (Mountmellick), Christy (Mountmellick), John (Mountmellick), Gerard (Pollagh), brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, former work colleagues, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.

Reposing in Moloney's Funeral Home on Thursday from 6pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7.30pm. Reposing in Moloney's Funeral Home Friday from 10am until Removal at 10.45am to St Joseph's Church, Mountmellick for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial after in St Josephs Cemetery.

Mary Mannion - Ballickmoyler

The death took place on January 1 of Mary Mannion (née Doyle) Grangenolvin, Athy, Kildare / Ballickmoyler, Laois.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the care of Naas General Hospital.

Predeceased by her parents Jimmy and Cecila Doyle, brother Liam and sister-in-law Imelda. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving husband Martin, sons and daughters, Andrew, Linda, David, Martin and Jonathan, grandchildren Lauren, Amy, Ellie, Calum, Leah, Sara, James, Charlie, Tadhg and Neasa, great grandchild Lexi, daughters-in-law Sheila, Olivia, Sabrina and Elaine, son-in-law Richard, brother Pat, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Mary will repose at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, Mount Hawkins (R14 NX80) on Wednesday evening 3rd January, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm.

Arriving at The Church of The Most Blessed Trinity, Moone on Thursday 4th January, 2024 for 11am Requiem Mass, followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.

Priya Kumar Sengupta - Portarlington

The death took place on December 31 of Priya Kumar Sengupta, Woodbrook, Portarlington, Laois, Oghill Nursing Home, Monasterevin, Enfield, London and formerly of Yangon, Myanmar.

In the compassionate care of Portlaoise Hospital surrounded by his loving daughter Mousumi (Sumi Dunne), son-in-law Matt and adoring grandchildren Joshua, Anouska, Noah and Mallika. Predeceased by his dedicated wife Dipali, his darling sister Snighda, brother Khoka, parents Prafulla Chandra Sengupta and Nirupama Sen.

Deeply and sadly missed by the extended Dunne, Rakhit and Sengupta families, sister Sipra, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a beautiful circle of very dear friends.

A Celebration of Life ceremony to take place at the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium Harold's Cross Dublin (eircode D6W HY98) on Wednesday 3rd January 2024 at 4pm.

Frank Sheils - Ballybrittas

The death took place on December 30 of Frank Sheils, Garryvacum, Ballybrittas, Laois / formerly of Lisnagry, Duniry, Galway.
Suddenly, at his residence. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Nan and brother James. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Breda, family Siobhan, Eamonn and Deirdre, brothers Sean, Raymond, Gerard, Stephen and Pat, sister Marion, grandchildren Rory, Declan, Aidan, Emma, Mark, Cian and Mary-Kate, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Mavis Harmsworth - Portlaoise

The death took place on December 31 of Mavis Alison Harmsworth, Ballycarnan, Portlaoise and late of Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford.

Peacefully, at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget, surrounded by her loving family. Loving mother to Brett and Daniel. Cherished grandmother to Kai, Leo, Matthew and Emma. Fondly remembered by her daughter in law Lorraine (Burke) and Daniel's partner Jennifer, sister Sandra, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her son's residence at Ballycarnan (R32RW35) on Tuesday afternoon from 1pm until 6pm. Removal on Wednesday morning for private cremation.

Mary Bergin - Portlaoise

The death took place on December 30 of Mary Bergin (née Fitzpatrick), St. Martin's Avenue, Naas, Kildare / formerly of Portlaoise, Laois.

In the tender care of the staff of Naas Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Donal (Donie), mother of Donal, James (Jim), Liz, Mary and Ann. Sadly missed by her family, brothers Mick and Billy, sister Eileen, daughters-in-law Jean and Anne, sons-in-law Jim and Leslie, Liz’s partner Mike, grandchildren Tamara, Luke, Keith, Rebecca, Rachel and Matthew, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

Reposed at The George Mullins Funeral Home, Kilcullen Road, Naas (eircode W91 CD0K) on Monday evening. Funeral on Tuesday with Requiem Mass at 10am in The Church of Our Lady and St. David, Naas and afterwards to St. Corban's Cemetery, Dublin Road, Naas. 

Mary Donovan - Portlaoise

The death took place on December 30 of Mary Donovan (nee McLoughin) Liogard Portlaoise.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved wife to Dominic and loving mother to Derek and Edel. Cherished grandmother to Lauryn, Faye, and Ciamh. Deeply regretted by her brothers Pat and Noel and sister Margaret and recently deceased sister Betty Phelan, Derek's partner Emma. Also Lauryn, Faye and Ciamh's mother Olive, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposed at Keegans Funeral Home on Monday evening. Removal on Tuesday to SS Peter and Paul's Church for 12 noon requiem mass. Interment followed in SS Peter and Paul's Cemetery Portlaoise.

Keith Ivan Little - Portlaoise

The death took place on December 30 of Keith Ivan Little, 45 Rossdarragh Hill, Portlaoise, Laois.

Suddenly at home. Loving son of Elizabeth (Elaine) and Raymond, dear brother of David, Robert, Andrew and Sandra and adored uncle of Darren, Marcus, Joshua, Ryan, Yulia and Ella. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, sisters-in-law,brother-in-law. aunts, uncles,cousins, family circle and friends especially Allen.

Esther Meehan - Ballyroan

The death took place on December 29 of Esther Meehan, St Vincent's, Lisnagry, Limerick / formerly of Ballyroan, Laois.
Died peacefully after a long illness in Milbrae Lodge Nursing Home Newport, surrounded by her friends. Deeply cared for and loved by the Daughters of Charity.

Sadly missed by her dearest friends Evelyn Mulhall, Marie Tuohy, Cormac Hurley, Geraldine Nicholas, Breda White, Mary Crotty, and cousin John, also her friends in Lisnagry and extended Meehan family.

Reposed in the Chapel at St. Vincent's Lisnagry on Sunday evening, December 31. Requiem Mass was on Monday 1st January at 11.30 a.m., burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Castleconnell.

Shane Lynch - Portlaoise

The death took place on December 28 of Shane Lynch, St. Brigids Place Portlaoise. Died unexpectedly. Predeceased by his father Willie. Deeply regretted by his heartbroken mother Kathleen, sisters Tara, Katie, Nicole and Shannon, brothers Dylan and Aaron, nieces, nephews, grandmother Betty Lynch, brothers in law, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Reposed at Keegan's funeral home Portlaoise on Sunday evening from 6:30pm until 8pm. Rosary at 7:30pm. Requiem mass on Monday at 12 noon in SS Peter and Paul's Church Portlaoise. Interment followed in SS Peter and Paul's cemetery.

Frank O'Loughlin - Portlaoise

The death took place on December 28 of Frank O' Loughlin, St Brigid's Place, Portlaoise, Co Laois / Coolfin, Rathdowney, Co Laois. Passed away peacefully in the loving care of Birr Community Nursing Unit.

Retired Telecommunications Technician with Telecom Éireann

Predeceased by his parents PJ and Mary (Molly) and his brothers John and Danny.

Deeply regretted by his wife Leigh. His daughters Nicola, Fiona and Emma, sons Stuart and Lloyd, grandchildren Adam and Isabelle, Lavanna, Leigh, Thorrin, Ocean, Ben, Sophie and Max, Nathaniel and Abigail - Maebh, Ruby and Lucy, sisters Betty and Patricia, brothers Brendan, Barry and Wally.

Reposed in his daughter Emma's residence R42 HW52 Saturday, 30th December, from 12 to 8pm.

Removal from his daughters residence on Sunday 31st December at 12.30pm to arrive in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Collins Lane, Tullamore, Co Offaly, RX35 Y2W5 for funeral service at 2pm.

Followed by private cremation in Shannon Crematorium.

Donations if desired to Birr Community Nursing Unit or Family Carers Ireland.

Andrew McCann - Portarlington

The death took place on December 28 of Andrew McCann, Rose Cottage, Ballymorris, Portarlington, Laois.

Formerly of Conisborough, South Yorkshire, England. Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Predeceased by his parents Donal and Edith and sister Denise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Catherine, son Alasdair, daughter Hannah, sister Elaine, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposed at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington, on Friday evening from 6:30pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Saturday morning at 10:20am arriving St Michael's Church, Portarlington, for Requiem Mass at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Michael's Cemetery, Portarlington.
