Laois locals mourn sad passing of Clonaslee mother of six

An air of sadness hangs over Clonaslee and the wider Laois community following the sad passing of Suzanne Conroy.

Formerly from Naas, Co. Kildare, the mother of six sadly passed away on October 6 in the care of staff at Tullamore Regional Hospital and the Mater Hospital, following a battle bravely fought.

A well known figure in Clonaslee through her involvement with the local community centre, locals have taken to social media to pay tribute to the beloved mother.

"It is with broken hearts we share the sad news that our friend and colleague Suzanne has passed away," the Clonaslee Community Centre Facebook page posted.

"Sue was a huge part of the team here and we will feel this loss deeply. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Sue's children, who she was so so proud of and loved so much, her parents, her siblings and her extended family and friends," they said.

"Rest well a Chara. The Community Centre will be closed this evening as a mark of respect to Suzanne and her family," the post finished.

Locals have taken to the condolence section of RIP.ie to express their sympathies.

"Deepest sympathies to Lauren, Rian, Fionn, Gabe, Christian and Grace and family on the untimely passing of your dear mam Suzanne. We are heartbroken for you all. She was a character and I know your memories of her will last forever. May she rest in peace," one user wrote.

"So very sorry to come across this sad news, what a woman who absolutely lived life & treasured it!! Huge loss to her children I've no doubt ye have many many memories of fun. Be at peace Suzanne," another user wrote.

"Heartfelt condolences to Lauren, Ryan, Fionn, Gabriel,Christian and Grace and to Suzanne's parents and sister and to all her family and friends
A absolute lovely woman who fitted into Clonaslee from the first day she arrived. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. May her gentle soul RIP," another person said.

The death has occurred of Suzanne Conroy (nee Garrett) Reary, Rosenallis, Co Laois and formerly of Naas, Co. Kildare – October 6, 2025, in the wonderful care of the Doctors and Nurses at Tullamore Regional Hospital and the Mater Hospital. Following a battle bravely fought by Suzanne, she passed peacefully surrounded by her loving children Lauren, Rian, Fionn, Gabriel, Christian and Grace, her parents Mona & Des and her sister Deirdre and her close friends. Pre-deceased by her grandmother and grandfather Kitty and Jimmy, Uncle Michael, Cousin Denise. Sadly missed by her brother-in-law Brian, nieces Clodagh & Zoe, nephew Darragh, uncles & aunts, relatives and wide circle of friends. “May Suzanne Rest In Peace”.

Reposing at Clonaslee Heritage Centre, Clonaslee, Co Laois (R32EH3F) on Thursday from 5pm - 7pm, with evening prayers at 7pm. Requiem mass at Church of Our Lady and St David, Sallins Rd, Naas, Co Kildare at 10am on Friday morning followed by burial in St Corbyn's Cemetery, Naas.
