Nine day road closure announced for Laois small town

Main Street closing in Laois

The Main Street of a small Laois town is to be closed for nine days starting on Wednesday, January 14.

Laois County Council has announced the road closure of part of the regional road through Clonaslee, next to the Slieve Bloom Mountains.

The Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District crew will be carrying out resurfacing of a 700m stretch of the R422 road, from the junction with the local road L-2006, at Hickey's pub, west towards Castlecuffe.

They will be closing one direction at a time with a stop-go system in place. Local access will be given to residents. The closure will be effective from 8am to 6pm daily.

It is to be complete by Friday January 23.
