'Clown' or 'legend'? Laois locals debate parking of Portlaoise Range Rover

Laois locals have taken to social media to debate a parking job in Portlaoise this week.

Facebook page 'Ireland's Parking Clowns' posts anonymous submissions from the public, publicly shaming poor parking jobs across the country.

The page has amassed over 65,000 followers, and regularly shares photos of vehicles double-parking, illegally parking in disabled spaces, or left abandoned in inconvenient places.

A recent submission to the page came from Portlaoise, showing a black Range Rover parked on a grass bank adjacent to parking spaces in the Kyle Centre car park.

A fierce debate has since taken place online; some Facebook users have criticised the driver, with other users defending the driver as a 'legend'.

Pictured above: the post garnered debate online.

"You can't park there lad," users joked in the comments.

Another person wrote that the driver "should have a chat with themselves".

Several people remarked on the fact that the vehicle was a Range Rover.

"Classic range rover sport ownership," someone said.

"Mint parking job," another user wrote with laughing emojis.

Other replies included sarcastic comments on the driver, with one person saying they deserve a 'parking clown award'.

However, there was overwhelming support for the driver in the comments under the post.

"To be fair, the lad's using the jeep for its intended purpose," the top comment read. "It's better than the muppets parking on the walkways all over," the user said.

"I think the clowns are taking the photos," another user remarked.

"At least he's not taking two spaces or blocking someone else," someone wrote.

"It's an off road vehicle... surely that's what they are for," another Facebook user commented.

"I was there today and saw this car. If I had a Jeep, I would park like that too," another concurred.

"He is far from a clown in fact he is a legend," another person said.

One thing is for sure: this photo has led to divisive opinions.

Let us know in our comments what you think- was this driver creatively making use of available space, or are they one of 'Ireland's Parking Clowns'?
