Gardaí report several car accidents in Laois following black ice spells

Following a recent cold snap, Laois Gardaí have reported several car accidents in Laois due to black ice on roads.

From Thursday January 15 to Sunday January 18, Gardaí told the Leinster Express / Laois Live of a series of car accidents.

On Thursday January 15, two cars collided on the Abbeyleix road in Portlaoise at 10am. No injuries were sustained.

At Coolagh in Portarlington on Thursday, one car lost control due to the black ice present on the roads. The car hit the ditch, with no injuries reported.

That same day in Ullard, Portarlington, a one car collision was also caused by black ice. The car hit the ditch with no injuries reported. 

On January 15 at 5:45am, a vehicle travelling from Clonaslee to Ballyfin skidded into a ditch, with no injuries reported.

At Flat Lower on January 15, a vehicle overturned due to black ice at 1pm. No injuries were reported.

A two car collision occurred on main street Borris-in-Ossory, resulting in material damage. No injuries were reported.

On January 17 at 5:45pm, a car with a single occupant overturned in Ballickmoyler. No injuries were reported.

A single vehicle collision occurred on Sunday January 18 on the N80 Derrycloney, where a vehicle collided with a tree at 11:45pm. Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
